BOC-Clark expedites release of COVID-19 lab equipment from China

The Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark has expedited the release of US$2.5-worth of BGI laboratory equipment from China that is seen to boost the country's testing capacity for COVID-19.

After the aircraft carrying the equipment landed at Clark, Pampanga Wednesday, BOC-Clark personnel conducted the arrival, unloading, and necessary examination of the cargoes.
The laboratory equipment includes a water purification system, fluorescent quantitative detection system, real-time fluorescent PCR kit, and other medical devices that were imported from Wuhan BGI Clinical Laboratory Ltd. Co.
The equipment was reportedly secured by the government through a grant assistance by the Asian Development Bank.
The Department of Health said the laboratory equipment can be set up in around seven to 10 days and can perform up to 45,000 tests daily.
