'Bistek' thanks Lacson, Sotto after being dropped from their list of Senate bets
Senatorial candidate and former three-term Quezon City Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista has expressed gratitude to the tandem of Senator Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson and Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III for the chance given him to be included in their Senate ticket, though it was short-lived.
“While my belief is that politics is addition, I have no ill feelings after they decided to remove my name from their senatorial ticket. Their decision, however, will afford me the opportunity to openly campaign for the BBM-Sara UniTeam,” he said.
Bautista, a member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), issued the statement following reports that confirmed he had been dropped from the Lacson-Sotto list of candidates for senators.
Sotto, NPC chairman, said Bautista was taken off the tandem’s senatorial lineup for being disloyal to the party.
Bautista did not attend the proclamation rally of Lacson and Sotto at the Imus (Cavite) grandstand last night (Jan. 8).
He, however, attended the United BBM-Sara proclamation rally in Bulacan.
“My respect for Senators Lacson and Sotto has not diminished,” he said.
“I look up to them with appreciation for every thing they have done for the country. I wish both of them the best of luck,’’ he added.
