Bicol records 3 new COVID-19 cases

By Nino Luces LEGAZPI CITY, Albay - The Department of Health (DOH) Bicol announced on Tuesday evening that three new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were recorded in the region. Dr. Ernie Vera, DOH Bicol regional director said that as of 5 p.m. on April 21, the total confirmed cases in Bicol were already at 28, with two deaths, 16 recovered, eight presently admitted, and one patient undergoing home quarantine. "The 26th confirmed case is a 17-year old Filipino female from Naga City, Camarines Sur. She first experienced symptoms on April 18 and is still admitted at the Bicol Medical Center (BMC). History of exposure is still being established. Said patient is the youngest recorded case of COVID-19 in the region as of date," Vera said. The 27th confirmed case of COVID-19 in Bicol is a 21-year old Filipino female from Legazpi City, Albay. "She consulted at Albay Provincial Health Office on April 19 for a possible exposure. She is currently quarantined at a facility. Patient is asymptomatic. She is a nurse, and the second health worker positive of COVID-19 following Bicol#22," Vera narrated. Vera said that the 28th confirmed case was the oldest patient positive of COVID-19 in Bicol. He is a 78-year old male from Guinobatan town in Albay province. "He has no travel history nor exposure. Onset of Illness is on April 11, 2020. The patient is admitted at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH). Bicol#28 is now the oldest confirmed case recorded in Bicol Region," he said.
