BBM camp submits notarized medical certificate

The camp of presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has already submitted a notarized medical certificate to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Based on the data provided by the Comelec, the camp of the former senator submitted the notarized medical certificate on Monday, Jan. 10.

"Notarized medical certificate and copy of prescription paper with license number of physician submitted by counsel for respondent on 10 January 2022," read the data from Comelec.

On Monday, Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said she will require the camp of Marcos Jr. to present a notarized medical certificate.

This after the former senator failed to attend physically or virtually, the Comelec's preliminary conference on his disqualification cases last Jan. 7.

"Now I have to require the doctor who examined Marcos Jr to have his medical cert notarized and indicate his medical license number," Guanzon said on Twitter.

During the preliminary hearing of the Comelec First Division, the camp of Marcos Jr. presented a medical certificate saying the former senator has difficulty in speaking due to a painfully congested throat and a fever.

Videos of Marcos being interviewed on radio on Jan. 6 later surfaced online.

The lawyer of Marcos explained that BBM proceeded with his scheduled morning interview despite feeling unwell.

After the interview, his physician arrived and determined that he had a fever and throat swelling. BBM was instructed to take a midday rest," Atty. Vic Rodriguez said in a statement.

"Mid-afternoon, however, he went on with another radio interview. We believe it was that afternoon interview which exacerbated his condition," he added.

The Comelec First Division is handling the disqualification cases filed by Bonifacio Ilagan, Akbayan and Abubakar Mangelen against Marcos.
