Barangay 20 in Tondo, Manila will be placed under a 24-hour total lockdown following the signing of an executive order, Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced Monday evening.
Domagoso signed Executive Order No. 19, authorizing the shutdown of Barangay 20, Zone 2, District 1 in Manila, which is home to about 41,000 people, from 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15.
During this period, the city government will be conducting disease surveillance, verification or testing, and rapid risk assessment.

The order came after it was found that at least a hundred people in the area engaged in leisure activities, such as boxing and bingo, despite the enhanced community quarantine and the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In his city address, the local chief executive cited a video posted on Facebook on Saturday, April 11, showing about 100 people, including children, engaging in an apparent informally organized boxing match by the side of the street.
"The video shows blatant violation of the enhanced community quarantine guidelines and social distancing protocols, thereby creating immense risk of exposure and contraction of COVID-19 to those involved in the event," the order read.
Shortly after this incident, some residents, including pregnant women who were playing bingo, were also caught by officials, Domagoso said.
"Given the high urban density in Barangay 20, Zone 2, District 1 and in the City of Manila in general, such risk of exposure creates imminent danger to the lives of the residents of the aforementioned barangay and the city as a whole," it added.
All residents of the said barangay are prohibited from going out of their houses for the duration of the lockdown.
The order, however, excludes health workers, police officers, and other government workers rendering emergency frontline services and border control, among others.
The city mayor also ordered the temporary suspension of all commercial, industrial, retail, institutional, and other activities in the area during the shutdown.
Domagoso directed the Manila Police District Station 2 to deploy police officers in strategic locations at the barangay to enforce the shutdown.
As of writing, there are now 323 COVID-19 cases in Manila City, with 42 deaths and 27 recovered patients.
