BAGUIO CITY – The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in this city rose anew with the addition of three fresh cases on Monday, July 20.
City Health Officer Dr. Rowena Galpo said the three new cases were a nine-year old girl from Barangay Middle Quezon Hill, who had close contact with previous patients; a 46-year old female from Lualhati, and a 57-year old male from North Sanitary Camp.
On Sunday, four persons with known exposure to current COVID-19 patients tested positive for the virus.
Mayor Benjie Magalong said the new patients were subjected to swab tests after being identified as contacts of existing patients by the contact tracing teams.
He encourages people with flu-like symptoms to immediately inform their barangay officials so they can be tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
This was to immediately identify those who are infected to mitigate the spread of the virus.
The public was also reminded to stay vigilant in observing the health protocols by wearing their masks properly at all times, observing physical distancing, avoiding crowded areas, closed spaces and close conversations, and to limit travel outside homes to essential purposes.
Magalong will convene the Baguio City Inter-Agency Task Force to address the surge in cases.
As of this writing, the city has a total of 65 cases with 17 active.
