Bacolod, Cebu, Iloilo, Mandaue still at 'very high risk' for COVID-19 -- OCTA

Four highly-urbanized cities in the Visayas remained at "very high risk" for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) despite the decreasing number of cases in these areas, the OCTA Research Group said in its monitoring on Wednesday, Feb. 2.
OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said that downward trends were observed in the cities of Bacolod, Cebu, Iloilo, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Ormoc, and Tacloban.
"Lapu-Lapu, Ormoc, and Tacloban are at high risk as of Feb. 1, but Bacolod, Cebu City, Iloilo City, and Mandaue remained at very high-risk," he said in a tweet.
Meanwhile, OCTA on Tuesday, Feb. 1, said that Metro Manila, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, and Rizal were still at "moderate risk" for COVID-19 with "new cases trending downward."
David said that the goal in Metro Manila is to reduce the positivity rate to below 10 percent within two weeks.
Positivity rate refers to the percentage of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who were tested for COVID-19.
He advised the public to observe strict compliance with safety protocols to maintain the downtrend in cases.
