The municipal government of Binangonan, Rizal will highlight the town's arts, culture, music, and tradition as it celebrates on Wednesday, March 29, its 123rd founding anniversary.
The office of Mayor Cesar Ynares announced that the series of activities are lined-up in time for the observance of the birth of the municipality as a separate independent town in 1900 during the American colonial period.
Russel Ynares, municipal administrator, told the Manila Bulletin that among the major activities are the Miniature Bamboo Art Making Contest on March 29 which aims to remind the residents of the role and importance of the culture and traditions which led to the progress of the municipality.
During the event, residents will present their entries of miniature bamboo art that will showcase arts, culture, traditions and even music in their artworks.
On March 31, residents of the municipality's 40 villages, both from the mainland and Talim Island, will have the chance to present their local delicacies as they compete in the Cookfest Competition that carries the theme, “Kakaibang Ulam at Kakanin sa Aming Barangay” (Unique Food and Delicacy in our Village), at 8 a.m. at the town motorpool area in Barangay Calumpang.
Also part of the town celebration is the Motor Show along National Road in Barangay Calumpang on April 1 wherein motorcycle enthusiasts will compete in various categories.
There will be a food park where exhibitors will showcase their food and non-food products to the public.
Malacanang has declared March 29, Wednesday, as a non-working holiday in the entire town through Proclamation No. 151 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, to give the residents the “full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.”
