Around 250 tested on first day of Manila drive-thru COVID-19 testing center
At least 250 individuals were tested on the day the drive-thru coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) center in Manila was opened, the city mayor announced Thursday (July 16).Â
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said around 170 individuals who were tested on Wednesday (July 15) already received their results as of 8 a.m. on Thursday.
"Medyo maganda 'yung batting average natin (Our batting average is pretty good) in terms of our commitment, and dreams, and aspirations to provide immediate results," he told reporters.Â
Domagoso said they are planning to further improve the drive-thru testing center.
"Just give me 48 hours. If you are happy with this, we'll make it better. Better in such a way that we might duplicate it and make it bigger, more convenient," he said.Â
Both residents and non-residents of Manila will be accommodated for free at the drive-thru COVID-19 testing center in front of the Andres Bonifacio Monument, regardless of what vehicle they ride.Â
Members of the Manila Health Department will collect their blood samples that will be processed by the city's three newly-purchased COVID-19 serology testing machines.
