BALER, Aurora – The Philippine Army's 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion stationed here donated their two-day food allowance to needy families in Barangay Calabuanan in line with its "Enhanced Adopt-A-Barangay Program-Kapwa ko, Sagot ko" program.
Acting Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P. Rubio, who initiated the worthy cause, said the move was in response to government's call to help mitigate the effects of the ongoing crisis, and in line with the encouragement of Army leadership to adopt families or communities to help them survive the threat posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
According to him, the Sinagtala troopers "voluntary'' contributed to the worthy cause, and collected a total of P48,000, which was used to buy the essential goods that were given to at least 120 families in the barangay.
“This is a good example of another “Bayanihan” concept which I want my troops to build upon in helping the people,” Rubio said.
The act of kindness initiated by the 91IB troopers was lauded by Judith Sindac, Sangguniang Kabataan chairman of Barangay Calabuanan, saying that the move was timely and has truly touched the hearts of the beneficiaries.
