BACOLOD CITY - Another confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was reported here on Wednesday.
Based on the record of the City Health Office (CHO), the patient is a 38-year-old male overseas Filipino worker (OFW), who was working in a cruise ship.
The CHO said that the male seafarer labelled as Patient No. 15 here, had a positive exposure from the vessel on March 15.
The patient was first tested positive for COVID-19 in Miami on April 9 after he had a fever. He was then admitted to a hospital for two weeks.
He was discharged from the hospital with improved condition on April 23 after his repeated swab tests came out negative.
He stayed in a hotel in Miami for a week and arrived in Manila on May 1.
He was quarantined in a hotel in Manila from May 1 to 16. He tested negative for the virus through the real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing and was moved to another facility there for three days.
He departed from Manila on May 18 via 2Go Malasakit Voyage and arrived here two days later.
He was subjected to another RT-PCR test while being quarantined in a facility here on May 26.
His swab test results came out positive and was released on June 3. He is asymptomatic with no pre-existing health condition.
Meanwhile, the CHO has recorded seven patients who had recovered from COVID-19, and 687 persons under monitoring.
The CHO are still waiting for the results of the 421 specimens sent to a bio-lab for COVID-19 testing.
