The Philippines recorded its highest number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) recoveries in a single day on Monday with 298 new recoveries, the Department of Health said.
Recovered patients from the dreaded disease have reached 6,252. With this, the country has broken its former record-high, 289 recoveries three days ago.
Total cases of the disease, however, continued to grow, reaching a total of 26,420 with 490 new cases, including 348 fresh and 142 late, that were reported on the same day. The death toll is now at 1,098 with 10 patients succumbing to the disease.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire noted that there has been a surge in the recoveries due to two factors, namely, the improving capability of doctors in providing treatment due to accumulated experience during the past five months; and the improvement in data reporting .
We have already fixed the data and we’re able to tag the data that were not reported by the local governments),” Vergeire said.
We have already added these numbers to the total data of recoveries that’s why we are seeing a higher number of recoveries),” Vergeire added.
