BACOLOD CITY - The provincial government of Negros Occidental has reported its fifth patient who has recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Based on the data provided to the media, the patient was a 29-year-old female overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from La Castellana town, who traveled to Brazil.
She was quarantined at a healing center in E.B. Magalona town after she arrived in the province on April 28. Her repeated swab tests were conducted on May 18 and May 23, indicating negative results.
The province has now five recovered COVID-19 patients, as of May 24, with no fatalities.
Authorities are still waiting for the results of the pending repeated swab tests of four remaining COVID-19 patients.
Meanwhile, 517 tested negative out of a total of 599 specimens sent to bio-lab for COVID-19 testing from March 13, 2020 to May 24, 2020, while 73 others are still pending.
The province has also reported 11 suspected cases for COVID-19 in eight areas, and 593 persons under monitoring (PUMs).
