ILIGAN CITY – The Iligan City Health Emergency Management Surveillance Unit (ICHEMSU) recorded a new case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Thursday, June 11.
City Health Officer Dr. Cherlina C. Cañaveral confirmed the case of a 27-year old male, who was a resident of barangay Tomas Cabili here. He was admitted at the Iligan City Quarantine and Treatment Facility (ICQTF) due to colds.
The patient had travel history to Cebu City, and arrived in Iligan City on June 7. His test result came out on June 9.
The CHO conducted contact tracing and intensive disease surveillance through Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) all over the city.
To date, there are 29 known close contacts, all of which were co-passengers of the same vehicle that conveyed them from Cagayan de Oro port area to Iligan City. All of the close contacts were also locally stranded individuals (LSIs) undergoing mandatory 14-day quarantine.
As of June 11, 2020 ICHEMSU recorded seven confirmed COVID-19 cases, four suspect cases awaiting swab test results, two recovered and two deaths.
