Almost 4M beneficiaries in SAP's second wave

Due to mounting complaints of non-inclusion in the SAP assistance, President Duterte has approved the recommendation of the government’s COVID-19 task force for an additional cash grant to five million qualified recipients. Año said the delivery of the cash aid in the second tranche would be easier and faster as (ATM) automated teller machine debit cards, GCash, and PayMaya will be used in distributing the money to the beneficiaries. He vowed that the second tranche of the cash aid would be distributed this month. But Año admitted that some local government units (LGUs) have not completed the distribution of the first tranche of the cash subsidy to the beneficiaries adding that the process is nearing completion. He cited that the problems in the cash subsidy distribution are the remote areas and islands but the process has been completed in the mainlands. As of May 26, Año noted that 472 out of the 1,634 LGUs in the country have already submitted their liquidation reports for the first tranche to the DILG.
