Albay records first death of COVID-19 patient

By Nino Luces The Department of Health (DOH) Bicol announced on Sunday that Albay has recorded its first death due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Dr. Ernie Vera, DOH Bicol regional director, said that Bicol#19, a 74-year old from Legazpi City, Albay died while admitted at Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH). "Bicol#19 tested positive for COVID-19 last April 14. Said patient was the oldest among all the recorded COVID-19 positive patients in Bicol region," Vera said. Vera added that the patient had diabetes mellitus type 2, hypertension, and ischemic heart disease. With the death of Bicol#19, the region has recorded a total of two deaths due to COVID-19.
