With the resumption of domestic flights this week, local air carriers advised passengers to arrive at least three hours early at the airports as long queues are expected with the implementation of strict physical distancing guidelines.

According to Philippine Airlines (PAL) spokesperson Cielo Villaluna, passengers should give allowance to every stage of passenger journey as air carriers will impose physical distancing measures from airport check-in even until the boarding process.
Cebu Pacific director for corporate communications Charo Logarta-Lagamon also echoed Villaluna’s advice, citing that unlike during the pre-COVID-19 traveling process, the journey now will take much longer.
“Kailangan po mas maaga po ang ating mga pasahero sa paliparan (Our passengers need to arrive at the airport at an earlier time). We advise them to arrive at least three hours before for domestic flights,” she said during Tuesday’s Laging Handa public briefing.
While PAL will have a simplified food service, according to Villaluna, Lagamon said Cebu Pacific will no longer serve snacks or refreshments on board the flights so passengers will not remove their masks as wearing it is deemed mandatory.
“Ang mayroon lang po would be bottled water on board lalo na kapag medyo lunchtime iyong ating flight, kumain na po muna tayo bago mag-board ng ating mga flight (We only have bottled water on board, so please eat first, especially if your flight is around lunchtime),” she added.
PAL will commence its domestic passenger flights to and from the provinces of Cebu, Davao, Dumaguete, and Cagayan de Oro beginning June 3. Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific has resumed flights Tuesday to select local destinations.
Despite the airlines’ new health and safety protocols for the resumption of their flights, the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) released an order to all airline companies to stop selling tickets while the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) has yet to approve the routes for domestic air services for the resumption of domestic operations in the first week of June.
