A loving wife's agony

Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara’s wife took to Instagram to express her sentiment on how they had to cope with the reality since her husband tested positive for the coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

Tootsy Angara said she finds it hard not to be able to take care of her husband the same way he was able to take care of her when she got sick.
“It was sad I couldn’t give him a big tight hug to say it was going to be okay when he got his results. It pains me that I am not able to take care of him the way he took care of me when I was sick,” Tootsy said on her social media account.
“I feel sad that we can’t be there fore him and he has to go through this physically alone. It’s lonely for all of us but we know it’s just a matter of time,” she said.
The senator has been strictly observing self-quarantine even before he got the results of his COVID-19 test. According to his staff, Angara had shown symptoms of the virus.
According to Tootsy, procuring basic necessities was difficult for them since the news came out.
“Some have refused to deliver essentials to our home…a neighbor wished to have us out of our neighborhood. And I don’t blame them,” she said.
“To our other neighbors who showed us acts of kindness, thank you,” she added.
She said she had to reach out and ask for help especially when their entire household, which has been on a 14-day quarantine, ran out of drinking water.
“Family and friends sent us drinking water when we ran out, they sent us oxygen too. The two most essential things in life—water and air. Some sent us fruits, vegetables, medical supplies, cleaning aids, vitamins for our household,” she narrated.
Tootsy also thanked the doctors and other medical practitioners who patiently answered her messages, inquiries and questions.
“I do have moments of weakness where I break down and cry. Because I miss him a lot and don’t know what I can do to help. But I choose to be strong and realized that prayer calmed my heart and made me believe Sonny was going to be okay,” she said.
“I have faith God will help him get through this. When I feel sad or scared, I pray the rosary by myself or with other ladies on Zoom or listen to the online masses,” the senator’s wife said.
She said she and their children are making effort to stay physically health and spiritually “because at this point, that is all that counts.”
“Then, before we know it, sooner than later, with God’s healing power, we will have our dearest strong, healthy and funny Papi back,” Tootsy said.
