In a report to Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, the City Social Welfare Department (CSWD), the City Accounting Office, and the Office of the City Treasurer said 41,640 out of the 46,286 beneficiaries have already received their assistance from the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
Calixto-Rubiano said the remaining 4,646 beneficiaries will receive their financial help either within the day or tomorrow, May 10.
“As I’ve said, there will be no let up in our drive to cover all the beneficiaries within the city,” Mayor Calixto-Rubiano said.
She credited the bayanihan spirit of Pasayenos and the national government in overcoming the huge task of documenting and distributing the cash assistance.
“The job seems insurmountable at first as we were bogged down by a very limited number of social workers. Fears of contracting the coronavirus while doing field work also slowed down the process,” the mayor said.
Calixto-Rubiano utilized all available resources in city hall to meet the deadline, tapping essential departments and their employees to help in distributing the funds.
She said the CSWD, together with the Office of the Mayor, the Office of the City Administrator, the Office of the City Treasurer, the City Accounting Office, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the Public Order and Safety Unit, the City Health Office, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, the Barangay Bureau, the City Human Resource Management Office and other essential departments have been working round the clock to give out the SAP fund to qualified beneficiaries.
