867 Filipino seafarers repatriated from Florida

By Richa Noriega A total of 867 Filipino seafarers from Florida, USA were repatriated on Monday amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
The Filipino crew members from ships Norwegian Pearl, Sky, Star, Sun, and Escape boarded two chartered flights that landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 at around 9 a.m., the department said in a statement. According to the DFA, the repatriates underwent thorough mandatory inspection and appropriate protocols supervised by the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) and will undergo quarantine in designated facilities. The DFA, through the Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C, together with its partner agencies, the Department of Health (DOH), the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and local manning agency (LMA) CF Sharp facilitated the repatriation of the crew members. The number of repatriates assisted by the DFA reached nearly 18,000.
