The number of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases among Filipinos abroad continued its upward trend as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Monday 34 new confirmed cases from Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East; 10 new recoveries, and nine new deaths in the Middle East.
To date, the total number of confirmed cases among overseas Filipinos is 8,467; the total of live cases is 2,829; the total recoveries are at 5,091 and the number of fatalities due to the pandemic is 547.
Based on the latest DFA infographic, the Middle East remains the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, recoveries, under treatment, and fatalities among Filipino nationals.
The Asia Pacific region has the least numbers in all categories compared to other geographic regions.
Meanwhile, the DFA reiterated its advice for Filipino travelers to check their travel dates with the airlines that they will use as well as with relevant embassies or consulates before departure or before booking a ticket in view of the varying COVID-related travel restrictions in various countries.
