By Glazyl Masculino BACOLOD CITY - The Bacolod City Inter-agency Task Force against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) confirmed on Friday the seventh COVID-19 positive case here. Dr. Grace Tan, spokesperson of the task force, said that the patient was a 48-year-old male with travel history to United States on March 13. He was tagged as Patient 26 in Western Visayas. Tan said the patient started to develop symptoms on March 25m and had his medical consultation and swab test on March 29. Tan said he was not admitted to a hospital, though he was reported to having coughs. Nevertheless, he remains stable, has been on quarantine since March 14. Tan said the patient had close contact with Patient 5 here. His two other household members were also asymptomatic, but testing were already done on them last April 2. Bacolod is second out of eight areas in Western Visayas, with the most number of COVID-19 positive cases, according to the Department of Health -Western Visayas Center for Health Development. The seventh positive case here for the infectious disease was among the 30 cases recorded in the entire region, as of April 3. Meanwhile, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said that the city was mourning on the death of the first COVID-19 casualty here. The fatality was a 62-year-old female patient, who travelled to Manila and had contact with her 40-year-old son - who is also a COVID-19 positive patient now confined in an isolation facility of a hospital here. “This is news that should remind us all of the seriousness of the problem we are facing. This could also serve as an admonition for all of us to follow what our health officials are asking us to do,” Leonardia said. He said that “while some of our positive patients have recovered and are now well, we still appeal to all to strictly follow the guidelines in the implementation of our Enhanced Community Quarantine. This is a measure that, if done correctly, could help prevent substantially the spread of this COVID-19.” As the doctors would put it, "the virus will stop spreading if all people stop moving,” the mayor stressed.
