780,000 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses for pediatric COVID-19 vaccination expected to arrive on Feb. 3---DOH

Around 780,000 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine doses for children aged five to 11-years-old are set to arrive in the Philippines on Thursday, Feb. 3, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
The initial Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine delivery is in time for the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination among the said age group on Friday, Feb. 4.
“Meron na tayong flight manifest ng pagdating ng 780,000 doses as initial supply or delivery dito sa ating bansa nitong reformulated Pfizer vaccine para sa (We already have the flight manifest of the arrival of the initial supply or delivery of 780,000 doses of this reformulated Pfizer vaccine for) five to 11-years-old,” said Vergeire in press briefing on Wednesday, Feb. 2.
Vergeire said that there are around 15.48 million children aged five to 11 in the Philippines.
She reiterated that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective for children.
“The vaccines are safe, effective, and free for all Filipinos—including children,” she said.
“Many countries, including the USA, Australia, Singapore, and those in the EU (European Union) already began vaccinating young children. A study in the USA showed that no severe side effects have been reported in Pfizer-vaccinated children aged five to 11,” she added.
