SULTAN KUDARAT - Around 76 returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) arrived at Macalaban Port in Cagayan de Oro on Tuesday, May 26.

On board the MV St. Therese of the Child Jesus, the OFWs were Davao residents, who were stranded in Metro Manila and Cebu due to travel restrictions brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The repatriation was arranged by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) region 10 and 11, in coordination with the Department of Internal and Local Government (DILG) 11 and the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) of Davao City.
Among the returning OFWs were 45 residents from Davao City, 17 from Davao del Norte, five from Davao del Sur, five from Davao de Oro, two from Davao Occidental, and two from Davao Oriental.
OWWA-11 Labor Communications Officer Maricel Sarabillo said that the agency provided transportation for the OFW repatriates from Cagayan de Oro back to Davao City.
She also bared that the respective local government units in Davao region of the returning residents have also provided transportation to fetch them from Davao City going back to their respective hometowns in the region.
Sarabillo added that these OFWs did not avail of the sweeper flights as it was only the 2GO travel service that had the most possible means for them to be able to get to Davao region.
