7 patients recover from COVID-19 in Western Visayas

By Tara Yap ILOILO CITY – The Department of Health (DOH) announced that seven patients in the Western Visayas region have recovered successfully from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Dr. Maria Sophia S. Pulmones confirmed in a Monday afternoon press conference that seven of the 40 positive COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas region have already recovered. Based on DOH’s data, Iloilo province had the most number of recoveries in the region with three. It included two patients from Guimbal town, and another one from Miag-ao town. Bacolod City had two recoveries. It included the man who became Western Visayas region’s first COVID-19 case. There was also one recovery each from Jamindan town, Capiz province and E.B. Magalona town, Negros Occidental province. Based on the laboratory results of 6 p.m. of April 12, Western Visayas region had no new positive case. Of the 40 positive cases, Pulmones said that only 12 were still admitted in the hospital, while another 14 were under home quarantine. Meanwhile, Pulmones said that the island province of Guimaras remained as the only province in the region that still had no COVID-19 positive case.
