After two days of rapid testing, 68 employees of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and four of its outsourced workers tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra said Sunday (June 14).
Department of Justice (MANILA BULLETIN)
Guevarra said “many of them immediately underwent swab tests in various government and private hospitals and are now awaiting the results of these tests.”
Earlier, Guevarra had declared that those tested positive for COVID-19 should undergo the confirmatory polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
There are about 750 DOJ officials and employees based in its offices in Manila. A total of 536 personnel have undergone rapid tests.
Earlier, Guevarra said the DOJ will not declare a work suspension since those tested positive for COVID-19 through the rapid antibody test could still work from home.
Disinfection of the DOJ has been done and will continue to be done regularly to prevent the spread of COVID-19, he said.
