65 individuals in Sampaloc apprehended for violating 'hard lockdown'

Around 65 individuals were apprehended at 12 noon Friday after the implementation of the 48-hour “hard lockdown” in Sampaloc District in Manila due to the rapid increase of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the area.
In an update posted by the Public Information Office of Manila at its Facebook page, the Sampaloc Police Station apprehended the 65 individuals violating the lockdown implemented by the city government. They were brought to the district's covered courts where they spent the night.
Sampaloc District is composed of 192 barangays with more or less 300,000 residents. The lockdown started at 8 p.m. on Thursday and will last until 8 p.m. of Saturday
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ordered the setup of 31 control points in the district which are being manned by policemen and soldiers.
Under the lockdown, all residents are not allowed to go out of their respective residences with exemption for government employees, healthcare workers, service workers working in pharmacies, drug stores, and death care; police and military, barangay officials, and media practitioners.
The operations and activities of those that were not indicated in the exemption like commercial, industrial, and institutional establishments in the said district were also suspended.
