NASIPIT, Agusan del Norte – A total of 625 residents of Northeastern Mindanao, who were stranded in Metro Manila due to the community quarantines implemented due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), finally made it home on Tuesday, June 2.

The locally stranded individuals (LSIs) arrived onboard a chartered sea vessel which arrived at the Nasipit International Seaport in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.
The return of the LSIs was facilitated by the government’s “Balik Probinsya Program (BP2)”, in close coordination with the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), the office of Butuan City and 1st District Agusan del Norte 1st District Rep. Lawrence Lemuel Fortun, and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
Of the LSIs, 246 were from Butuan City, 90 from Agusan del Norte, 48 from Agusan del Sur, 75 from Surigao del Norte, 71 from Surigao del Sur, 58 from Surigao City, 48 from Agusan del Sur, and 37 from Dinagat Islands.
The LSIs were immediately fetched by their respective local government units (LGUs) in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region.
They will undergo the 14-day quarantine period in the different isolation facilities in Caraga.
