Five persons under investigation (PUIs) in Negros Oriental have tested negative for the 2019 novel Coronavirus acute respiratory disease (2019-nCoV ARD), the provincial government said Sunday.
This, after the initial swab test result of another patient arrived Sunday bearing negative result, the Provincial Public Information Office (PIO) said in an advisory posted on its social media account.
On February 6, the provincial government reported that four out of the eight PUIs for 2019-nCoV ARD in the province tested negative in the initial swab test conducted by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine recently.
“The four PUIs who earlier test negative will be discharged once their confirmatory tests will also turn negative,” the PIO said.
The result of the confirmatory test is expected to arrive on Wednesday, while the result for the swab test of the remaining three PUIs is yet to be determined, it added.
On the other hand, the PIO disclosed that most of the persons under monitoring have finished their 14-day quarantine period and were “all in good health.”
In an advisory Friday, Bimbo Miraflor, Provincial Capitol spokesperson, said that Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo ordered the resumption of classes in all levels, both in public and in private schools in the entire province on Monday.
Degamo ordered on Tuesday a three-day suspension of classes in all public schools in the entire province amid the continuing threat of the virus.
