5 Metro Manila LGUs now at 'low risk' for COVID-19 -- OCTA

The OCTA Research Group on Tuesday, Feb. 8, said five local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila are now classified as "low risk" for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
"Caloocan, Pateros, Navotas, Taguig, and Marikina are now classified as low risk as their ADAR decreased to less than 10 (which is considered moderate) and positivity rate improved to 9.6 percent (which is also moderate)," OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said in an update via Twitter.
The ADAR or incidence rate refers to the number of new daily cases per 100,000 population while the positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who were tested for COVID-19.
David also noted that the reproduction numbers and healthcare utilization rates of Caloocan, Pateros, Navotas, Taguig, and Marikina were in the "very low" category.
"This resulted in an overall classification of low risk," David said.
The research group assesses the risk level of an area using the indicators of the COVID Act Now that was developed by the Harvard Global Health Institute, Apple, Microsoft, and Bloomberg.
Meanwhile, David said the rest of Metro Manila "remained under moderate risk but are close to being classified as low risk."
"While COVID trends improve, the public is advised to continue to observe health protocols," he pointed out.
David on Monday, Feb. 7, said that if the downward trends continue, Metro Manila may see less than 200 new cases per day by the end of February.
