The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) facilitated the return of the 438 crew members and six passengers who arrived at the Haribon Hangar in Clark Airbase, Pampanga at 2:15 a.m.
The Filipino repatriates arrived via a charter flight from San Francisco International Airport.
"The repatriation was coordinated and facilitated by the DFA through the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco in coordination with the Carnival Corporation, the State Department’s Office of Foreign Missions, and the California Governor’s Office," the DFA said.
"Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Henry Bensurto, Jr. and his team monitored preparations for disembarkation at Oakland Port which started around noon of 14 March," the foreign affairs department added.
After arriving in Pampanga, all repatriates went to the Athletes' Village in New Clark City, where they will undergo a 14-day quarantine.
The DFA said 78 Filipino crew members "volunteered to remain onboard" the cruise ship, while 13 who disembarked from the ship and tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), "stayed in the US and were brought to a care facility for treatment."
"The other three Filipino guests disembarked and stayed in the US as they are California residents," the DFA reported.
