A total of 4,000 qualified beneficiaries in Las Piñas already received their P8,000 cash assistance under the Social Amelioration Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
According to City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) chief, Junet Barilla, since April 15 and the start of their distribution, beneficiaries coming from five barangays in the city have already received the P8,000 cash assistance.
Barilla said that the beneficiaries came from barangays Ilaya, Pulanglupa Dos, CAA, Talon 3, and Almanza Dos. She also said that the names of the qualified beneficiaries for the SAP cash aid has already been submitted to the DSWD.
(The fund amounting to P541,904,000 for the 67,738 qualified families came from DSWD and was entrusted to the City Treasury Office, which is subject to auditing procedure so as to avoid the budgeted money from being pocketed by the local government. The local DSWD are also being obliged by the DSWD national to report every Monday to determine that we are following the right process in the distribution of the cash aid.)
The CSWD chief further said that they are still conducting validation including the distribution of the SAC form to qualified beneficiaries in the remaining 15 barangays in the city. Barilla said that they are very strict in their validation and evaluation and the DSWD nationals will be the deciding agency who among the beneficiaries will be given the cash assistance.
(The qualified family will be disqualified if they are already members of the 4Ps, because they already have their cash card. Registered formal sectors must apply for assistance at the DOLE as well as government employees, while GRAB, jeepney, and taxi drivers should apply for LTFRB assistance.)
Barilla clarified that senior citizens are not included in “the poorest of the poor” and those from the middle class are also not qualified for the SAP cash aid.
