DAGUPAN CITY — Almost a week with no case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reported, this city reeled from the confirmation of new cases of the viral ailment on Friday, April 24.
Dagupan City Information Office said that laboratory test results received by the city government from the Baguio General Hospital (BGH) showed that those infected were three medical frontliners and a 37-year-old woman.
The medical frontliners were working at the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC), and were reported exposed to COVID-19 cases undergoing treatment.
The 37-year-old woman, a resident of Barangay Bonuan Boquig, had travel history to Mabini, Pangasinan, which she reached on-foot.
In all, 11 cases have already been recorded here, including eight medical frontliners.
Five confirmed COVID-19 cases have recovered, while an 80-year-old man, who was previously listed as patient under investigation (PUI), died three days before he was found positive for the virus.
The Department of Health and the City Health Office have begun conducting contract tracing.
Again , Mayor Brian Lim appealed to city residents to stay home and strictly follow quarantine rules.
