A 29 day-old infant is the youngest coronavirus disease-related death in the country, the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Tuesday.
Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire (PNA)
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the infant, who was a resident of Batangas province, experienced shortness of breath and pneumonia.
"Ang kanya pong ikinamatay ay late-onset sepsis dulot ng severe respiratory infection," Vergeire said in a press briefing.
(The patient died of late onset-sepsis due to severe respiratory infection.)
Vergeire did not disclose any further details about the deceased patient.
"Ang iba pa pong impormasyon ng pasyente ay hindi po maaring ibigay dahil nirerespeto po natin ang kanilang patient confidentiality," she said.
(Other patient information cannot be provided because we respect patient confidentiality.)
The Health department has reported 20 more deaths among COVID-19 patients, raising the country’s death toll to 335.
Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed cases jumped to 5,223, while recoveries are now at 295.
