27 new COVID cases among Filipinos abroad – DFA

By Roy Mabasa The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday reported 27 new confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, 15 recoveries, and four deaths among Filipinos abroad, as the number of countries with cases of Filipinos infected with the disease has increased to 56. In its latest report, the DFA said the new cases were recorded in the Asia and the Pacific and the Middle East regions. The DFA, through its Foreign Service Posts, continues to monitor the status of our nationals and assists returning Filipinos affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, whenever possible. The total number of overseas Filipinos with confirmed COVID-19 cases is now at 8,351, of which, 2,767 are considered live cases, 5,072 have recovered or discharged from the hospitals while 512 succumbed to the disease. The Middle East remains as the region with the biggest number of fatalities due to COVID-19 with a total of 252 deaths, followed by the Americas with 164, Europe with 94, and the Asia and the Pacific with two.
