240 foreign passengers stranded at MCIA flown to Manila

(Photo via Minerva Newman / MANILA BULLETIN) According to MCIA officials, they have been assisting more than 600 foreign passengers affected by the government-imposed travel restrictions and cancellations of domestic flights in Cebu due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation. Passenger service agents have been assisting the stranded passengers with hotel bookings and addressing passenger concerns while foreign embassies provided various assistance and food packs to them. SSP- Mactan Cebu Corp (SSP) and the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) also provided free food for the stranded passengers. GMCAC and MCIAA thanked PAL for mounting the special sweeper flights, and DOT-7 for coordinating with the PAF.  MCIAA commended all airport employees and stakeholders who have been relentlessly assisting the foreign passengers, including the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) and SSP Mactan Cebu. MCIA will post updates should there be other available flights and will continue to serve the needs of the Filipinos and foreign travelers as one airport community, through good and challenging times.
