DAVAO CITY - The city government has already placed some communities here under lockdown following reports of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.
Mayor Sara Duterte revealed on Wednesday that there are already 22 areas in the city placed on various lockdown. The city mayor said 17 areas are put on a house lockdown, four are on a compound lockdown, while one community is placed on a street lockdown.
Duterte said they have already discussed, together with the COVID-19 Task Force here, not to disclose to the public the specific areas where lockdowns have been imposed.
“There is no value to give to the public the specific areas,” she said.
The city mayor, however, identified some of the barangays where a number of communities are placed on various lockdowns including barangays Tacunan (1), Dalia (1), Ilang (1), Barangay 21 (1), Barangay 23 (3), Leon Garcia (2), Bago Gallera (2), Catalunan Grande (2), Baliok (1), Talomo (1), Aliongto (1), Buhangin Proper (1), and Cabantian (2).
Duterte said the lockdown in some areas of the city was recommended by the City Health Office (CHO) which is handling the City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU).
She also said that the CHO is also heading the contact tracing being done in the city.
“Our lockdown is implemented by the security group but with the recommendation of the health group headed by the City Health Office,” Duterte said.
