21 OFWs have returned to Mindanao after being stranded at Clark Airport

By Rizal Obanil The 21 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were recently brought back to the country, but were temporarily stranded at the Clark Airport in Pampanga finally returned home to Northern Mindanao, Saturday. (BCDA facebook page / MANILA BULLETIN) (BCDA facebook page / MANILA BULLETIN) The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) said that the return flight to Cagayan de Oro was provided by the Philippine Airlines (PAL). Aside from the BCDA and PAL, the Clark Development Corporation, Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 3 and 10, as well as the local government units made the trip possible. The DOT has been spearheading the operation of sweeper flights that will shuttle stranded passengers to their intended destinations, especially returning OFWs. As an inadvertent effect of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), many travelers were left stranded, as many flights were cancelled due to the ban of air, sea, and land travel. With the government leaning more toward the possibility of transitioning from ECQ to general community quarantine (GCQ), more flights will be allowed, giving homeward-bound travelers the opportunity to finally return home.
