202 cops, 313 BuCor personnel subjected to rapid diagnostic test for COVID

By Aaron Recuenco More than 200 policemen assigned as augmentation force to the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) were subjected to rapid diagnostic testing after several inmates and employees of the correction facility earlier tested positive for the new coronavirus. (NCRPO / MANILA BULLETIN) (NCRPO / MANILA BULLETIN) Those who were tested were 131 elements from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and 71 members of the Special Action Force (SAF). The results: four personnel from RMFB, one from SAF, and another policeman were found to be IgG/IgM positive. NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas said those who tested positive were advised to undergo quarantine at their facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City. “The health and safety of our personnel is our primary concern. Hence, we are exercising diligent efforts to ensure the safety of our men, our most valuable resource amid this battle against the unseen,” said Sinas. Aside from the 203 policemen, also subjected to rapid test are 313 personnel of the Bureau of Corrections. A total of 32 of them were found to be IgG or IgM positive. Sinas preparations are now being made for a coordinated contact tracing of their respective personnel. The test was conducted by the NCRPO Regional Health Service. “This effort NCRPO is being undertaken to ensure that measures are established for early detection of infection among NCRPO personnel while performing their regular duties and to prevent the spread of the virus among our personnel and also with the PDLs (Person Deprived of Liberty) inside the BuCor Facility which may be vulnerable to massive infections,” said Sinas.
