SULTAN KUDARAT - The Department of Health (DOH)-Davao has recorded 20 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Davao region on Tuesday.
As of 5 p.m., May 26, the DOH-Davao Center for Health Development reported that 18 of the new cases were from Davao City, one was from Davao del Sur, and another from Davao Occidental.
These new cases brought to 273 the total number of COVID-19 cases in the region.
The DOH-Davao also reported one new fatality from Davao del Norte. The deceased COVID-19 patient was identified as PH12217, the 52 years old female resident of Barangay Peñaplata in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS).
Based on the report, the patient had the onset of symptoms last April 29, and was admitted to the hospital on May 13. The DOH-Davao bared that PH12217 had an “unknown travel and exposure history.”
The 52-year-old female was the third recorded fatality in the province of Davao del Norte, and second in IGACOS after the previously reported death of a 10-year-old girl identified as DR-193, a resident of Barangay Adekor, Kaputian.
As of Tuesday, Davao City has a total of 249 cases, with 111 recoveries and 22 fatalities. Davao del Norte meanwhile, now has 14 recorded cases with 10 recoveries and 3 deaths.
Davao Occidental now has a total of two reported confirmed cases, one of which already expired; and Davao del Sur with three positives, two of which have already recovered.
DOH-Davao also bared that Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental have recorded no new cases. The two provinces previously had two and three confirmed positive cases, respectively.
Meanwhile, the region now has a total of 128 recoveries following the recovery of a 34-year-old male patient identified as DR-219, a resident of Barangay Agdao Proper in Davao City.
His profile however bared that his exposure and travel history were both unknown. He was admitted last May 19 and was discharged May 26.
