BACOLOD CITY - Two new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported here and in Negros Occidental.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairman of the Bacolod Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19, confirmed on Wednesday that Patient No. 18 was a 32-year-old male driver from Barangay Bata here.
Familiaran said that the City Health Office was currently tracking his travel history.
Familiaran said that the patient manifested symptoms, and underwent a swab test on June 5.
His swab test results indicating that he was positive for the virus was released on Wednesday, the vice mayor said. He was brought to a quarantine center.
For his part, Barangay Chairman Lito Abaring said that they cordoned the area of Purok Pinetree, where Patient No. 18 was residing.
Abaring said that the patient was working as a personal driver, and not a passenger jeepney driver or tricycle driver.
He said that contact tracing is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the provincial government also reported on Tuesday that another repatriated overseas Filipino worker (OFW) tested positive for COVID-19.
The patient was a 31-year-old male from Cadiz City.
He came from Saudi Arabia, and currently quarantined at a facility in the province.
