As of 7 p.m. of April 24, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Quezon City (QC) jumped by 19 as the tally rose from the previous 1,085 to 1,104, based on Department of Health (DOH) statistics.
On the other hand, the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU) and the District Health Offices reported that the total number of validated cases is 788, 316 less than the 1,104 DOH figure during the same period.
From the previous 945, the total number of confirmed cases with complete addresses in Quezon City is now at 956, as reported by the Quezon City Health Department (QCHD).
In the same QCHD report, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the city --pertaining to those still alive and have not fully recovered -- stood at 549, up by one from the previous 548.
COVID-19 deaths and recoveries in Quezon City
As of 7 p.m. of April 24, three new COVID-related deaths in the city were recorded, bringing the total to 106, while the number of recoveries increased by 12, upping the tally to 133.

Extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ)
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city government implements the EECQ in barangays with two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases and in various streets and/or in congested urban poor areas where fast transmission is most likely to occur.
However, Belmonte said this will still be subjected to daily review depending on the number of cases/recoveries.
She noted the newly reported barangays with two cases have not yet been included in the list as they are still undergoing validation.
As of 7 p.m. of April 24, the Quezon City government has implemented EECQ in the following barangays:
Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo, Central, San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, San Isidro Labrador, Matandang Balara, Teachers Village West, Manresa, Paltok, Sto. Domingo, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Payatas, Marilag, Socorro, Kamuning, Pinyahan, San Isidro Galas, Commonwealth, Pansol, North Fairview, Novaliches Proper, and New Era.
Hope 1 facility
As of April 24, Hope 1 has one available room for COVID-19 confirmed or suspected patients. At present, 40 COVID-19 confirmed and suspected patients are housed in this facility.
Hope 2 facility
At present, 132 rooms/beds are occupied by COVID-19 confirmed and suspected patients, with 177 still available. Those who have been tested by QC’s community-based testing service are brought to this facility for self-isolation while waiting for their results.
Community-based testing in Quezon City
On April 24, a total of 116 swab tests were conducted in the city’s community-based testing centers, local government hospitals, and by the QCESU.
Of the 116, 30 were in Quezon City General Hospital, 30 in Novaliches District Hospital, 19 in Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, and 37 by the QCESU.
Quarantine violators
At around 5 p.m. of April 24, 60 quarantine violators were apprehended by local authorities.
Social Amelioration Program
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), with the assistance of the QC government, has started distributing to residents the financial support through the social amelioration program.
Belmonte said residents may contact the city government through email [email protected] if they have inquiries about the subsidy.
'Kalingang Quezon City' (QC)
As of April 24, Belmonte said a total of 41,264 beneficiaries have each received P2,000 from the city government as part of its financial assistance program, Kalingang QC. The recipients include persons with disability (PWDs), solo parents, senior citizens, vendors, and drivers of tricycles, pedicabs, jeepneys, taxis, and transport network vehicle services. (Chito A.
