A total of 1,654 individuals were nabbed by the Pasay City police for various quarantine violations set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) from the period of March 1 to 9.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the city is strictly intensifying the implementation of basic health standards and is encouraging the public to comply with the requirements set by the IATF.
Rubiano said the local police under the leadership of Col. Cesar Paday-os reported that a total of 1,654 individuals were apprehended for various quarantine violations.
She said that of those arrested, 1,064 were apprehended for not wearing face masks, 270 for violating curfew hour, 184 for non-wearing of face shields, 136 for not observing physical distancing.
“Kaya naman po nanawagan ako sa ating mga mahal na kababayan na sundin ang mga alituntunin na ating ipinatutupad para malabanan natin ang COVID-19 at ganoon din tayo po ay magpa-bakuna kapag dumating na ito para tuloy-tuloy na ang ating pagbabalik sa normal (I am calling on the residents to follow and strictly observe the guidelines we are implementing to fight COVID-19 and get vaccinated once the vaccine is available so that we can now go back to our normal lives),” Rubiano said.
Paday-os, for his part, said that those apprehended violators were issued by the police with ordinance violation receipt (OVR).
He said that for the first offense, violators will have to pay the fine of P1,000, P2,000 for the second offense, and P3,000 for the third offense.
The city chief of police also said that they are conducting random patrol or during the busy hour from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. wherein most people gather outside their homes because of the hot weather.
Paday-os added that residents who are not included in the localized community quarantine imposed by the city government are allowed to go out of their respective homes provided that they are wearing face masks and should avoid gatherings.
He also said that policemen are mostly deployed at places of convergence like public markets, malls, and leisure parks.
The city police chief added that patrolling policemen are giving away face masks to first-time violators but on the second time, that they will be apprehended and OVR will be issued to them.
