Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Tuesday signed an executive order authorizing the shutdown in the district from 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 23 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 25.
"I think it will be done tomorrow so I think I would see the area at titingnan ko rin 'yung paglalatagan ng sundalo para alam namin paano kami makakatulong (and I will see where the soldiers will be deployed, so we would know how can we help)," said Luna.
As of Wednesday, Sampaloc is the district with the highest number of cases in the city with 106 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the latest data from the city government showed.
The shutdown exempts health workers, law enforcers, service workers, government officials, and workers in the media, while all others will have to stay inside their houses. (With a report from Minka Tiangco)
