13 Metro Manila cities log significant increase in COVID-19 cases -- OCTA
Thirteen cities in Metro Manila have shown "signficant upward trends" in the number of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the past week, OCTA Research said in its latest report.

In its March 12 bulletin, the research group said Metro Manila averaged 1,546 new cases per day over the past week.
OCTA said COVID-19 reproduction number in Metro Manila also went up to 1.86 on March 12, from 1.66 on March 8.
"The positivity rate in NCR (National Capital Region) increased to 10 percent. Overall hospital bed occupancy in NCR increased to 50 percent, while ICU (intensive care unit) occupancy was 65 percent, as of March 10, 2021," OCTA said in its report.
Metro Manila's daily attack rate of 11 per 100,000, classifies the region as "high risk," it added.
"Significant upward trends" have been specifically observed in the cities of Quezon, Pasay, Makati, Parañaque, Taguig, Caloocan, Pasig, Malabon, Valenzuela, Marikina, Navotas, Mandaluyong, and Muntinlupa.
OCTA pointed out that hospital occupancy has already exceeded 70 percent in Quezon City, Makati City, and Taguig City, while ICU bed capacity exceeded 70 percent in Taguig City, Pasig City, Mandaluyong City, Las Piñas City, Muntinlupa City, and San Juan City.
While the attention has been focused on Metro Manila, OCTA said cases have also been rising in some areas of Region 4-A and Central Luzon, specifically in Antipolo and Cainta in Rizal, Bacoor and Imus in Cavite, and Santa Maria in Bulacan.
The report also noted that Baguio City had an increase in new COVID cases, while Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Davao City all had downward trends.
However, OCTA said Lapu-Lapu City, along with Cainta, Rizal, had greater than 70 percent hospital bed occupancy.
