Robredo optimistic she can sustain momentum towards May polls

Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo is confident she can sustain her momentum in pre-election surveys a month into the actual polls in May.

After gaining nine points in the recent Pulse Asia survey from 15 percent in February to 24 percent in March, Robredo believes she will sustain the upward trajectory.

"f there is one lesson na natutunan ko sa mga eleksyon (I learned from elections), it’s not over until it’s over," the Vice President said Friday, April 8.

She said she has history to back it up, citing her win in 2016 for the vice presidency, and the come-from-behind victory of former Vice President Jojo Binay.

The aspiring president attributed her improved numbers in the pre-election polls to her supporters, who are collectively called "kakampinks."

She said it is a huge boost to her campaign, especially to her supporters because the recent survey result is considered as the fruit of their labor.

"Malaking bagay siya para makita ng mga supporters natin na nagme-make ng mark yung lahat ng ginagawa nilang pagod (It is a huge thing so that our supporters know that all their efforts are making mark)," Robredo said.

"Pero nakikita na namin 'to (But we have already seen this) even before it came out. Nakikita na namin sa aming mga (We're seeing it in our) provincial surveys. Nakikita namin yung movement saka yung trajectory pataas. Ang pinakamaganda dito kasi ito yung nagpapakita na yung momentum na sa atin talaga (We are seeing the movement and the trajectory is upward. What's good here is it shows that momentum is in our side)," Robredo added.

Her supporters have recently shifted to house-to-house campaigning nationwide to reach more voters and she encouraged them to carry on with only a month remaining in the campaign season.

"So, dapat lang na yung mga supporters hindi napapagod na kumayod kasi yung pinakamahalaga sa lahat na nararamdaman nila yung fruits ng kanilang pagod (So, our supporters must continue to work hard because what's important is they see their fruits of labor)," Robredo said.

"ung mga tao paniniwala ko (I believe that), if given the chance na mabigyan ng tamang impormasyon, pipiliin nila kung ano yung makabubuti sa kanila (that they are given the right information, they will choose what's better for them)," she added.
