NCRPO to deploy 4,000 cops in Metro Manila as campaign for local bets starts
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will be deploying at least 4,000 policemen in various areas in Metro Manila as the campaign period for local candidates starts on Friday, March 25.
NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad said the move is to ensure a zero election related incidents until the May 9 elections.
"The police force is ready and equip to patrol and monitor their area of responsibilities," said Natividad.
He said at least 4,000 personnel will be deployed in different campaign activities to maintain peace and order and several are on standby, should the need arise.
"The highest level of readiness is expected in all police offices to prevent any untoward incident," said Natividad.
"The he forthcoming National and Local Elections 2022 is expected to be more challenging than it was before considering the fact that we are facing a global health crisis at the moment. We must modify our strategies to adopt to the new environment," he added.
While Metro Manila is not classified as a hot spot, police said they will continue to intensify police visibility and other measures to make sure that any election-related violence would not be given a chance.
