MB Daily News Update: SC asked to stop canvass of votes for BBM

A group has filed a petition with the Supreme Court, asking for a temporary restraining order (TRO) to stop the Senate and House joint canvass of votes of presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

According to Marcos spokesperson Atty. Vic Rodriguez, the incoming president has talked to Bienvenido Laguesma and Susan “Toots” Ople to lead the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the newly created Department of Migrant Workers, respectively.

This, as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that the proclamation of the so-called Magic 12, or the 12 winning senators in the recent elections, will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). The leading party-list groups, including pace setter ACT-CIS which will be eligible for three seats in the House, will also be proclaimed.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the local transmission of the Omicron sub-variant BA.2.12.1.
