Two days after the conduct of the May 2022 national and local elections, the camp of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos finally claims victory in the Palace race.

Ho closest rival in the race, opposition standard-bearer Vice President Leni Robredo, has yet to concede. But it doesn't matter, at least to Team Marcos.

“With 98 percent of the votes counted, and an unassailable lead of over 16 million votes, the Filipino people have spoken decisively,” read a statement from Marcos spokesperson and chief-of-staff lawyer Vic Rodriguez.

With this, the attention now turns to the transition between the current Duterte administration and the prospective Marcos government.

Malacañang, through Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Chief Martin Andanar has also acknowledged that the result of the elections is already a foregone conclusion.

"The Filipino people have spoken and now is the time to heal and unite as one nation and one people," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections (Comelec)--the main agency behind the recent political--has welcomed United States (US) State Department Spokesperson Ned Price's observation that the May 9 polls were “in line with international standards".
