Pacquiao says he's waiting for 'God's sign' if it's time to withdraw from Palace race
Aspiring president Senator Manny Pacquiao is willing to step out of the presidential race even at the last minute.
But Pacquiao said he will only do it if he will see "conviction" from God.
"The only thing na pwede ako magdecide na di ako tumuloy: 'Pag may conviction ang Panginoon sakin na wag na tumuloy (The only thing that could make me decide not to continue will be a conviction from God)," he told reporters during his campaign activity in Manila on Monday, March 28.
"Sino ba naman ako para kontrahin ang Panginoon? (Who am I to oppose God?)," he added.
Pacquiao said if he gets "instructions" or signs from God to withdraw from the presidential race, even if there are only one to two days left before the elections, he will do it.
But how could he know the signs? The devout Christian lawmaker cited his experience during his legendary boxing stint when he used to dream about the result of his upcoming match, which would always come true.
"Nanaginip ako, 'di yan kwento lang... may mga pinagsasabihan ako bago maganap yung laban. At exactly yung sinabi ko na nanaginip ako, 'yun ang exactling nangyari sa fight (I used to dream about my fights. This is not a made-up story. There were people whom I informed about what I dream of. What I told them would be what would exactly happen during my fight)," he said.
Pacquiao said he would be willing to withdraw because he has "no vested interest" in the presidency and that only wants to help the poor.
"'Di ko kailangan na magpayaman dyan, di ko kailangan magnakaw dyan. Ang gusto ko ang tulungan ang kasama ko... kasi yan ang mission ko (I don't aim to be rich. I don't need to steal money from the coffers. What I want is to help the people. That's my mission)," he said.
